Eglise de Auzac à Grignols

The building, of which only vestiges remain, was built in the Lysos valley at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century. The bell-wall dates from the 14th century, but was improved in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Abandoned in the 1920s and 1930s, the church was stripped of its capitals, which were sold to the city of Bordeaux and then listed as a historic monument on 30 May 1961.

The bells were moved to the church of Notre Dame de l’Immaculée Conception in Grignols. One of them bears the inscription “St. Jean Baptiste, priez pour nous” (“St. John the Baptist, pray for us”).
