Saint-Pierre de Loupiac Church to Loupiac

This Romanesque church, decorated with plant and geometric motifs on the entablature and capitals of the eastern openings, was flanked in the 16th century by a square tower to the south. Restored between 1850 and 1859, the church had its aisle removed in order to restore the original layout of the building. However, a new bell tower was built. The apses, forming a semi-circular plan and vaulted in a cul-de-sac, were rebuilt. The architect added a rib-vaulted transept and covered the nave with a pointed barrel vault.

The western facade of the church is composed of a forecourt, pierced by three arcades, and divided by profusely ornamented bands. Beneath the cornice, supported by sculpted modillions, is a frieze depicting the Last Supper, between Original Sin and the Adoration of the Lamb. Saint John leans his head against Christ’s shoulder, in the midst of the 11 apostles. This
