Eglise Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens de Sauternes to Sauternes
The church retains the choir from the Romanesque building. Outside, on the east side of the choir, the marks left on the wall are the signatures of the stonemasons. The square bell tower and the presbytery adjoining the church to the north were built in 1600. The rest of the church was built in 1846 to plans drawn up by the architect Lambert. Inside, the medallion on the high altar is made of white marble. It represents the angel breaking the bonds of Saint Peter in his prison. The medallion on the Virgin’s altar, also in white marble, was donated by Eugène de Lur Saluces. It depicts the Annunciation.
