Village de Sauternes to Sauternes
A small village with just over 700 inhabitants, nestling in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, whose pretty Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens church dates back to the 11th century. Its Romanesque apse is listed as a Monument Historique. Sauternes Town Hall is the only town hall to have a Virgin Mary on its pediment above the motto “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité”. The building was once a religious school.
