Village de Cauvignac à Cauvignac

The small village of Cauvignac has been occupied since Antiquity. The discovery of Roman coins and traces of a villa attest to the village’s age. Overlooking the wooded Lysos valley, with its cultivated hillsides, the church of Saint-Aignan is the nucleus of the medieval village. It is now more than two kilometres from the present-day village, which was built around a crossroads on the road from Grignols to Auros.

The Route de la transhumance (transhumance route) makes a stop in the village every year, providing an opportunity to spend a convivial moment and welcome the shepherd and his flock as they arrive from the Pyrenees!
