In his novel Vie et mort de Jean Chalosse, moutonnier des Landes (Life and death of Jean Chalosse, a Landes sheep farmer), Roger Boussinot foretells “the end of free space” which, for his character, materialises in the planting of the Landes forest, the construction of the railway line and the gradual disappearance of communal land in favour of private property, in the mid-19th century.

50 years after the publication of the best-selling novel (1976), you are offered an analysis of it in the light of current events in the region.

From the fires that ravaged the pine crops of the Landes to the planned construction of the LGV: so many subjects that hark back to the visionary nature of Boussinot’s work.
