des Lacs d’Hostens
With its 5 lakes, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, greenway and nautical activities, this 600-hectare natural area offers hundreds of possibilities. At the time, Hostens lakes domain was a lignite extraction site in the South of Gironde but in the 70s, the site was gradually transformed into a leisure area with beautiful white sandy beaches. Today, Hostens domain is recognized as a Sensitive Natural Area (ENS) belonging to the Natura 2000 Zone.

in the Lac de Lamothe
Beach towel in hand, venture to the Domaine des Lacs d’Hostens in the South of Gironde for the day! On sunny days, the Lac de Lamothe becomes a truly playground for nautical activities: canoeing, kayaking, sailing, paddleboarding and pedal boats (rental by the hour). Swimming is supervised from June to September.
By the lake, white sandy beaches invite you to spread out your towel and let yourself bask in the sun… And why don’t you try your hand at a game of pétanque or table tennis?
Walk the paths of the
Landes de Gascogne pine forest
Hostens domain is the perfect spot for hiking, with 3 main loops of 8, 11 and 16 km that you can explore on foot or by mountain bike.
If you are a thrill-seeking rider, the mountain bike trail area and the mogul track are made for you! The athletes know the site very well, since numerous trail runs and long-distance hikes take place on the domain every year, giving them the opportunity to run and surpass themselves in an extraordinary place.
Nature lovers? Come and observe butterflies, dragonflies and other damselflies, droseras and royal ferns. You will be able to observe a large number of rare species during your walk…
And as for them, lovers of cycling can explore our cycle paths! There are three possible destinations from Hostens: La Brède (27 km), Mios (30 km) and Bazas (40 km). A beautiful and secure ride in the middle of the pine forest, that you can enjoy with friends or family, with plenty of great things to discover upon your arrival…

Fishing and discovering
the nature of the lakes differently
Fishing is allowed in each of the 5 lakes of the domain, attracting numerous fishermen who catch carps, carnivorous fishes, tenches, roaches or perches.
The only exception is the Lac de Lamothe, which hosts from mid-May to mid-September several summery activities (swimming, canoeing, kayaking, pedalo, paddle…), incompatible with the silence and tranquillity required by fishing.
And whether you are an expert or a beginner, go for a walk with naturalists to guide you on the domain. They will make you discover its fauna and flora…

You are a little bit hungry? The panoramic restaurant and the snack bar are the perfect spots to enjoy a beautiful view of the Lac de Lamothe! And for those who prefer to have a picnic, plenty of spots are awaiting you on the domain.
