Lagunes du Gât Mort : fermé temporairement to Louchats
Remnants of the original moorland, the lagoons are a key part of the natural and human heritage of the Landes de Gascogne. These small circular pools of water, created by glaciers, are a secret and magical environment. Around the small Gât Mort stream, the forest opens out onto an area of open moorland vast enough to evoke the landscapes of centuries gone by. The nearby water table enables some of these lagoons to maintain a water level of no more than one metre all year round. A 3km walk with a number of observatories provides an overview of the vegetation.
