Château Clare to Landiras
Languages spoken
Château Clare is located in a small natural setting, in a clearing in the Landiras forest, where the pine trees protect it from the fierce Atlantic winds. The Carreyre family, winegrowers from father to son, bought the estate in 1733. The name Clare is said to have been chosen symbolically by one of their ancestors, out of love for a Claire.
5 generations have succeeded one another and since 1991, Thierry has greatly developed the vineyard, which has grown from 9 to 17 hectares. The vines are spread over 2 plateaux of small gravelly areas, some of which are very deep (up to 8/10 metres). The gravel, which filters very well, provides the vines with a regular supply of water, which is enhanced by the presence of the famous Budos springs, which supply water to the whole of the south of Bordeaux and give the Graves its fruity, full-bodied character.
